Children's National Medical Center

children's national medical

Congenital heart disease is among the most common birth defects in the United States. Despite this prevalence, we do not yet fully understand how or why children develop congenital heart disease.  The Children’s National Heart Institute (CNHI) is working to eliminate heart disease in children.  Our physician-scientists aim to solve the question of how and why children develop heart disease, and use that knowledge to change the way children are diagnosed and treated—making accurate diagnoses earlier and treatments safer, more effective, and pain-free.  The Institute provides a full range of specialized cardiac research and treatment.
Children's National Medical Center is a proven leader in the development of innovative new treatments for childhood illness and injury. Ranked among the top pediatric hospitals by U.S. News & World Report and the Leapfrog Group, Children's National has been serving the nation's children for nearly 140 years. With a team of world-class cardiologists, surgeons, and specialists, the Children's National Heart Institute provides expert care for children with cardiac defects.
